SISMUN 2025 Conference Executives

Shian Joo
Secretary General (SG)
Greetings, honorable chairs, fellow delegates, and most esteemed guests,
My name is Shian Joo, a rising senior at Shekou International School. It is my utmost honor to serve as the Secretary-General for SISMUN 2025.
I’ve been persistently participating in MUN since 6th grade, and I’ve been part of the SISMUN leadership team since 8th grade. It’s strange to say this will be my last SISMUN—I still remember sitting in the first-ever conference in a small music classroom in 2019, not knowing that years later, I’d be helping run it.
Watching this conference evolve over time—in structure, scale, and the conversations it sparks—has been one of the most meaningful parts of my high school experience.
This year’s theme, “Sectionalism: Navigating its challenges and ripple effects,” asks us to confront the divisions that continue to shape our societies—politically, socially, and culturally—and consider what role diplomacy plays in bridging them. It’s not always a comfortable conversation, but it’s a necessary one, and we hope SISMUN can provide you the space to approach it with nuance, honesty, perspective, and respect.
My hope is that SISMUN 2025 feels thoughtful, professional, and, most importantly, personal—not just another conference, but one that sticks with you through your MUN journey.
See you all in October.

Best regards,
Shian Joo
Secretary-General, SISMUN 2025

Casey Tang
Under Secretary General (USG)
Greetings to all future attendees of SISMUN 2025,
My name is Casey Tang, and I am honored to serve as your under-secretary general for the Shekou International School Model United Nations conference in 2025. As a Junior at Shekou Int School, this will be my fourth year participating in the Model United Nation program.
Back in 9th grade, it took plenty of self-convincing to join the MUN club, yet I was such a terrible public speaker. Little did I know that MUN would become one of my greatest passions and will forever change the way I view the world. After being part of MUN for so many years and joining numerous conferences, I can honestly say that MUN has become a key part of my life as it inspires me to be more aware and involved with the world around me. Most importantly, MUN made me realize that as members of the young generation, we have the power to make a difference in our world.

It is my hope that each one of you at SISMUN 2025 will be inspired to meet new friends, improve public speaking skills, or to develop a better understanding of international relations through discussions and debates. I look forward to meeting all of you at SISMUN 2025!

Sincerely,
Casey Tang, Under Secretary General

Tracy Chen
Deputy Secretary General (DSG)
Honorable chairs, delegates, and directors,
My name is Tracy Chen, and it is with great excitement and deep gratitude that I welcome you to SISMUN 2025 as your Deputy Secretary General.
SISMUN holds a special place in my heart because to me, it is not only a conference, but a club that has taught me how to lean into discomfort and use my voice to shift perspectives since 6th grade. MUN gave me the courage to speak, the humility to listen, and the drive to think beyond myself.
SISMUN 2025 is a platform for recognizing divisions to then thoughtfully examine their roots, consequences, and possible resolutions. I look forward to seeing you all challenge yourselves by asking the hard questions and using your voice, all the while listening with respect.
Let’s make SISMUN 2025 a conference to remember.

Regards,
Tracy Chen
